We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions for you. This way, you'll quickly find the answer and know exactly what to expect.

General

How do I order my custom cabinet?

We've made it as easy as possible. You send us your requirements and measurements, and we'll get started right away. Based on your information, we'll create a free, no-obligation quote complete with a 3D sketch.

After you accept the quote, someone will always come and measure it for FREE . You can still make adjustments during the measurement process; this is no problem. You'll receive revised sketches if necessary. Once everything is correct and all details have been processed, you'll receive the order for approval.

After approval, your custom cabinet will be technically developed, and you'll receive a technical 3D drawing and dimensions for confirmation. Once you approve these, we'll begin production in our own workshop and schedule the installation date together. Assembly is always carried out by our dedicated, experienced teams.

What options do you offer?

With us, almost anything is possible, because all our products are completely custom-made. Feel free to contact us directly with your questions or ideas. We're happy to brainstorm with you and tackle any challenge.

To provide you with the best possible advice, we'd appreciate receiving some photos of your space. This will give us a better understanding of the situation and allow us to explore the possibilities together. Based on these photos, we'll prepare a free, no-obligation quote with a 3D sketch. Once you've approved the quote, we'll come and measure it for you FREE of charge.

After measuring, you can still adjust the quote, after which you'll receive new 3D sketches. Once everything is approved, your cabinet will proceed to technical design and production. We always find a suitable solution. We'll provide personal advice where needed.

I'm not sure about the size, is that a problem?

That's absolutely no problem. We always measure everything for FREE , so we're sure your cabinet is accurate to the millimeter. That's why it's perfectly fine if the dimensions in the initial quote are slightly off, for example, by a centimeter or so.

Do you deliver throughout the Netherlands?

Yes, we deliver and install throughout the Netherlands . Whether you live in the north, south, east, or west, our team will simply come to your home. We work with our own dedicated installation teams, so you're always guaranteed the same quality and service, wherever you live. Measuring and delivery are also arranged nationwide, making it even more convenient. This way, you can enjoy a custom-made cabinet or piece of furniture from De Maat Fabriek anywhere in the Netherlands.

What is the delivery time?

Because everything is custom-made, delivery times vary. We always do our utmost to deliver your cabinet as quickly as possible, but quality and precision naturally take time. Want to know the current delivery time? Feel free to contact us, and we'll let you know the current status.

What material are your cabinets made of?

Our cabinets are made of high-quality decorative panel material (melamine-faced chipboard). This material consists of a chipboard core with multiple layers of melamine on both sides. The top layer is available in numerous colors and textures: from matte to high-gloss, or even realistic wood grains that are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. This gives you endless choices to give your cabinet the look that suits you.

This material is also durable, easy to maintain, and moisture-resistant. A damp cloth is all it takes to clean your cabinet.

Can your sliding doors also be used as a room divider?

Our sliding doors are specifically designed for custom cabinets and are therefore not suitable as room dividers or for completely closing off spaces. This is due to the technical construction and the type of rail system we use, which works optimally for cabinet applications but not for passageways or partitions.

When during the construction or renovation will you come to measure and install?

Measuring

We'll come and measure as soon as everything is (almost) finished, as a finishing touch. For new construction or renovations, we do this once the screed is laid and the walls are up. Ideally, the ceiling and walls should already be finished and the floor installed. Not yet? No problem. Let us know what the final finish will be, and we'll take that into account when measuring. In that case, please also send us a photo of the situation so we can see and assess whether measuring is already possible.

To assemble

Make sure the space where the cabinet will be installed is clean and clear, so our installers have sufficient working space to assemble the cabinet neatly and smoothly. Also keep in mind that there will be no access behind the cabinet after assembly.

Do the prices include measuring and installation?

Yes, the cost of measuring and installation is always included in the price. This means you'll never encounter any surprises and are guaranteed a complete service. Our specialists will accurately measure your cabinet, after which our dedicated installation team will ensure professional and careful installation. This guarantees a perfect end result, without any additional costs afterward.

Is it possible to assemble the cabinet myself?

No, that's not possible. We always handle the assembly of your cabinet. This is free of charge and completely professional, ensuring everything is installed securely, neatly, and level. This way, we can guarantee quality and stand behind the product we leave with you.

Service and warranty

At De Maat Fabriek, we go beyond simply delivering customized solutions. We believe it's important that your project continues to function smoothly even after completion. That's why we offer transparent service and warranties for all our projects.

Warranty - after installation of the custom product
Damage caused by installation to the custom work itself will be repaired as quickly as possible and free of charge. Please report this to [email protected] within 7 business days , along with photos and an explanation. This damage will be repaired free of charge within a reasonable timeframe.

Warranty - after installation in the room
We ask our customers to properly cover the access to the room and the room itself, such as the stairs and floor, beforehand . This prevents unnecessary damage during installation. Please keep in mind that the cabinet parts are heavy and large.

Should damage occur despite these precautions, we will be happy to work with you to find a suitable solution. Damage to the property will be reimbursed in fixed amounts, up to a maximum of €250. This ensures fairness and transparency for both parties. Report this damage to [email protected] within 7 business days , including before and after photos and an explanation. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot provide compensation without photos before installation.

  • Floor: €50 per plank/pit/scratch
  • Stairs: €75 per step
  • Wall: €75 per spot
  • Ceiling: €100 per spot
  • Other/larger: in consultation, max. €250 per project

Warranty construction, accessories, minor repairs
We offer a standard 2-year warranty on all our custom solutions, covering construction, accessories, adjustments, touch-ups, and minor repairs. Free repairs are provided within this period.

Should a problem unexpectedly arise beyond the locks and hardware after two years, our service team is ready to resolve it quickly and professionally. In many cases, we can advise remotely, and if necessary, we'll schedule an on-site appointment. We charge labor and/or call-out fees for this. These costs are always communicated in advance.

Warranty on hinges and locks:
For hardware (including sliding door systems), we use the manufacturer's warranty from the relevant supplier. This is often 15 years. Free repair or replacement of these parts is provided within this period.

User damage
Damage due to use, accidents, or improper handling (e.g., moisture, impact, improper cleaning) is not covered by the warranty. We understand you'd like this repaired. We can, of course, repair it for a fee covering materials, labor, and any call-out charges. These costs are always communicated in advance.

Notification & procedure
Check and clean your cabinets and accessories immediately after delivery. If you discover any damage or a problem, please report it within 7 business days via [email protected].

Product and possibilities

Do you also have products in stock?

We don't have a standard range, so we don't keep any products in stock. We custom-make everything specifically for you. This not only results in a perfect fit for your space but also contributes to a more sustainable production approach.

Do you also remove old cabinets?

As fun as demolition can be, we don't remove or disassemble old cabinets. You'll have to arrange this yourself. We also don't take old cabinets away. We assume the space is empty and tidy during installation, so our installation team can get started right away with your new custom cabinet.

Do you also give discounts?

We don't offer standard discounts or sales because we strive for sustainable, custom-made furniture of the highest quality. We prioritize fair value for money, and we value that more than temporary promotions.

We're always happy to discuss your needs. Have you received a similar quote with a lower price elsewhere? Feel free to share it with us. We'll see if a price adjustment is possible, because we want to offer you the best in every way, including price.

Our cabinets and furniture aren't impulse buys, but investments you'll enjoy for years to come. They're carefully crafted in our own workshop, with an eye for detail and the use of high-quality materials.

How does the step-by-step payment work?

At De Maat Fabriek we work with a clear and secure payment scheme:

50% deposit within 5 days after your acceptance of the quotation.

40% payment no later than one week before the planned installation date.

10% remaining after delivery of your cabinet or furniture.

You'll always receive an automated email from us with all payment details and a secure iDeal payment link . This allows you to pay quickly and easily, and you'll also automatically receive a reminder for each payment's due date.

What warranty do I get on my cabinet?

We always offer a 2 + 3 year warranty.

We use Blum for our hinges. These are very high-quality (and expensive) hinges, but definitely worth every penny! We also only use decorative panels from high-quality, reputable suppliers. This meets our quality standards and benefits the durability of your cabinet.

2 year full warranty
For the first two years after delivery, you are fully covered for construction and hardware:
✔ Manufacturing and material defects
✔ Problems with hinges, drawers and other moving parts
✔ Construction defects, such as loose connections or warping panels during normal use

We will resolve any defects within this period free of charge through repair or replacement.

3-year additional construction warranty
After the first 2 years, you will receive an additional 3 years warranty on the construction of your cabinet.

✔ Manufacturing and material defects
✔ Construction defects, such as loose connections or warping panels during normal use

What is not covered by the warranty?
🔹 Normal wear and tear, such as scratches/stains/dents.
🔹 Damage due to misuse, overload or insufficient maintenance
🔹 Moisture and water damage or damage caused by external factors (fire, leakage, etc.)
🔹 Self-performed adjustments or repairs

After 5 years: maintenance & service
Even after 5 years, you can still contact us! Even though the warranty period has expired, we're happy to help you with:
✔ Paid repairs and maintenance at a fair rate
✔ Replacement of hinges, drawers or other parts
✔ Advice on self-maintenance or minor repairs
✔ Possibility to order individual parts

How do you report a warranty claim or service request?
Is there something wrong with your cabinet, or would you like to use our service? Let us know by email. Please include a clear description and photos, and we'll help you as quickly as possible.

Are all prices listed on the website inclusive of VAT?

Yes, all prices we communicate on our website include 21% VAT. The price you see is an approximate guideline price. Need an exact quote? Simply request a free, no-obligation quote through our website, and we'll take care of the rest.

Can I cancel my order?

Because we offer fully custom-made products, your cabinet is produced specifically for you. Therefore, cancellations are unfortunately no longer possible after 14 days of order approval (after measurements have been taken).

According to the Consumers' Association, as a consumer, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of placing it, without giving a reason. If you want to cancel within this period, please feel free to contact our customer service, and we'll be happy to assist you.

If you still wish to cancel after these 14 days, we will charge you for the costs already incurred for the custom work, materials, and labor. Because your cabinet was custom-made for you, we cannot sell it to anyone else.
